Nest Nomad & Beyond is an independent gear review brand built for people who live the outdoor-meets-indoor life. We review honest, real-world outdoor adventure and camping products alongside the latest home tech and gadgets — because the kit you need at the peak of summer on a trip to the Alps is very different from what you need in November, when it's dark at 4pm and dinner needs to be on the table.
We've got you covered all year long.
In 2019, we bought our first VW long-wheelbase campervan and affectionately — though not originally — named her Blue. Since then, we've had a blast exploring the UK and Europe with our two daughters, who were just 6 and 7 when we first hit the road. Over the years, our adventures have taken us white water rafting in Switzerland, caving in Cheddar Gorge, mountaineering in Snowdonia and kayaking around Lake Garda. Blue has safely carried us through 12 countries and counting.
We now have two fun-loving teens who still love being on the road — and who definitely have opinions about the gear. Also along for the ride are our two fluffy Chow Chows, Storm and Nala. A special mention goes to Kuga, our first Chow, who was there for the very start of it all. He crossed the rainbow bridge in 2022, but passed the baton to Storm in 2023.
Over the years we've bought, used, broken and occasionally returned a tonne of gadgets, gizmos and kit. The right portable power station means working from anywhere and charging the kids' iPads without stress. The right robot vacuum means coming home to a clean house instead of clumps of dog hair. The wrong choice of either means you're stuck or annoyed — usually both.
Nest Nomad & Beyond is built around one idea: that the same person who wants to seek adventure in the warmth of summer also wants to be cosy at home with the right tech in the depths of winter — and deserves honest, useful advice on the products that make both parts of life better.

I'm Carina — the researcher, the writer, and the one most likely to spend three hours down a Reddit rabbit hole before committing to a buying decision. I've worked in video production since 2012 and planned countless trips and adventures for our family of four. It turns out those two things go pretty well together when it comes to lifestyle product reviews.
It's the lifestyle bit I love most. Finding kit that genuinely supports how we want to live — making things easier, taking away the stress, and making space for more memories — that's what this is really about. It matters because it makes an actual difference to how you live.
I'm also a mum to Eden and Ivy, a Chow Chow wrangler, and someone who has been genuinely grateful for our portable power station on a campsite with no electric hook-up — and equally grateful for our camping toilet when the facilities were shut just after lockdown. Still grateful for that one.
At home, life is busy — as it is for most. Whose dinner rush hasn't been transformed by a decent air fryer? Whose Sunday morning hasn't been freed up by a robot lawn mower? I'm not reviewing products just because they exist. I'm reviewing the stuff we actually value, use, break occasionally, and either love or return.

I've spent over 20 years working as a Director of Photography and Video Producer including two decades freelancing for BBC News. I've covered some of the UK's most significant national events.
Outside of work I'm happiest when I'm moving — hiking, biking, kayaking, or finding yet another campsite that looks more straightforward on the map than it turns out to be in Blue, our trusty campervan. I've owned and used kit across the board — outdoor gear, home tech, camera equipment — and I know pretty quickly whether something is genuinely well designed or just well marketed.
Life's too short for sub-par products letting you down on a trip or at home. If it's on here, it's because I'd actually buy it — or I already have. And if I wouldn't, I'll tell you that too.
